The first invoice you receive for a service may be issued pro-rata to enable us to synchronise the billing of the service to the 1st of the calendar month. In practice this means that your first invoice will be for a proportion of the normal monthly fee based upon when you order the service during the month. If you order a service before the 15th of the calendar month the first invoice will be for the period until the end of that calendar month and will therefore be less than the normal monthly fee. Orders placed on or after the 15th of the month are billed for the period until the end of the next calendar month and will therefore be a little over the normal monthly fee.
For example, you order a service that costs £30.00 per month. If you order this service on the 10th of the month with 30 days your first invoice will be for £20.00 (30 days - 10 days). However, if you order the same service on 25th of the month the first invoice will be for the remainder of that month (5 days) and the following month. The amount due would therefore be £35.00, consisting of £5.00 for the period 25th to 30th + £30.00 for the following month. Subsequent invoices would be for £30.00 and due on the 1st of each calendar month.
We synchronise billing of hosting services to the 1st of the calendar month to reduce the number of invoices customers receive. Many of our customers use multiple services which without 1st of the month billing would result in multiple invoices being issued over the month. After the first invoice customers will be charged the normal monthly fee as seen on our website. Pro-rata billing does not mean you will pay any more or less, the effective price is the same.
Domain registrations are never invoiced pro-rata as the registration period is always a fixed number of years from when first registered.
