INFO: File/Folder limits

The storage of files on Linux based servers is limited in terms of the volume of data but also the numbers of files that can be stored due to the way the file system works. The file system has a finite number of iNodes which restricted the total number of files that can be stored. Therefore it is possible to exhaust the 'capacity' by creating a large number of small files even if they do not exceed the available storage capacity. As a result our Linux shared hosting has the following iNode limits:

  • Linux Bronze - 50,000
  • Linux Silver - 50,000
  • Linux Gold - 100,000
  • Linux Platinum - 100,000
  • WordPress Lite - 25,000
  • WordPress Pro - 50,000

Where a Linux based account is not listed the default limit of 25,000 inodes is applicable.
