Account type: IMAP
Email address / username: mail@example.com
Password: your mailbox password

Incoming mail server

  • Protocol: IMAP
  • Port: 993
  • Encryption: SSL/TLS

Outgoing mail server

• • Server: mail.hostedemail.com
  • Protocol: SMTP
  • Port: 587
  • Encryption: STARTTLS
  • Authentication: required
  • Username: mail@example.com
  • Password: same as incoming mail

Microsoft’s current Outlook for Windows flow is to go to View > View settings or File > Account info, then Accounts > Your accounts > Add Account. If Outlook does not detect the settings automatically, you can edit the account settings manually and enter the incoming/outgoing server names, ports, and encryption types yourself.

Use these steps in Outlook 2024:

1. 1. Open Outlook.
   2. Go to View > View settings or File > Account info.
   3. Open Accounts > Your accounts.
   4. Choose Add Account.
   5. Enter mail@example.com then click Advanced Options.
   6. Tick the option to set it up manually.
   7. Enter the IMAP and SMTP settings above.
   8. Make sure Outgoing server requires authentication is enabled and uses the same username/password.

A couple of common fixes if it does not connect:
